Grovelands Childcare believes that the first five years of life are particularly important to a child’s development. This is when children develop basic learning patterns and abilities that they will use for the rest of their lives.

The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides up to 2 years of free early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age.

From September 2016, children will be able to start ECCE when they reach 3 years of age and continue until they transfer to primary school (provided that they are not older than 5 years and 6 months at the end of the pre-school year). This increases the number of weeks available on the ECCE scheme. Children will be able to enroll in pre-school at 3 different points in the year (September, January and April) in order to access the scheme. You can find a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the extended ECCE scheme (pdf) on the website of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

At Grovelands Childcare we believe that each child deserves the best possible start and at Grovelands caring and learning go hand-in-hand. We are devoted to providing every child in our care with the very best education and encourage learning in a fun, loving and safe environment.

Grovelands Childcare are participating providers of the Government’s scheme to provide a free pre-school year for children in the year before they start primary school.

How the ECCE Scheme is provided

The pattern of hours of free pre-school education is a follows:

Sessional Services

If your child attends only for the ECCE “sessional” service,  the normal pattern for the free pre-school year is 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, over 38 weeks. If your child attends for more than 3 hours, you will be charged for the extra time.

Full Day Care Services

If your child attends full-time or part-time, the normal pattern for the free pre-school year is 3 hours per day over 38 weeks. The subsidy received for the ECCE will be deducted from your full day care fee. Once the 38 weeks of the ECCE term are over the fee will then revert to the centre full day care fee.

Booking Your Place

In order to book your place on our award winning ECCE program you must fill out our ECCE booking form which you can get at any of our centres and return along with a €50 deposit. Your deposit will be repaid to you by the end of October of the year your child starts.
