Top of the Class – Grovelands Virtual Graduation 2020

This year, our graduation ceremony looked a bit different compared to the 28 previous years.
Normally it is a great family celebration with the children performing their favourite songs and rhymes and dressing in their caps and gowns to be presented with their graduation certificate marking their transition to Big School.
It is always an emotional and enjoyable evening for staff and families as many of the children would be attending the full day centres from the time they were ten months old.
However due to Covid 19 all childcare centres in Ireland were closed on the 12th March and large gatherings are not allowed this means that the 2020 graduations in our centres or the local theatres were not be possible.
As a team at Grovelands, we didn’t want the children to miss out on this milestone so this year each child received a special graduation pack which will contain a letter from their teacher, their certificate and their very own ‘make and do’ graduation cap. The children were then invited to take a photo or record a video that they can share with Grovelands team who will put them together for their virtual graduation ceremony.
Speaking about the graduation Grovelands Childcare Director of Operations, Dee Frampton Bushell said: “The graduation ceremony is always one of the highlights of our year. The children really enjoy it, so this year we wanted to think outside the box to ensure that Covid-19 does not affect the celebrations. We will be celebrating it a bit differently but keeping it fun for the children. We are looking forward to seeing the photos and videos that the children make.”
A huge congratulations to all the children who graduated from Grovelands Childcare in June 2020, best of luck in Big School. We’ll miss you all very much!
